That's right (about eating the good bacteria)... except it's true of everything... just like you can get salmonella from spinach or peanut butter or milk or meat. The issue is the quality of the product and the health of your gut.

I actually I have heard of Safe Eggs but I haven't really paid them much mind cause they pasteurize their eggs. So when you pasteurize milk or eggs... sure you kill the bad bacteria but you also kill the good. So with pasteurized milk for example, you are drinking a bunch of dead bacteria... they don't/can't strain it out. It typically causes a lot of under the radar health problems.

So by eating the good bacteria in most eggs, you increase your resistance against bad bacteria, should you encounter it, in a bad one later? Gosh, I am so conditioned to think raw egg = bad, it will be hard to get around it. That reminds me though - some company e-mailed me about Safe Eggs. Have you heard of them? http://www.facebook.com/SafeEggs?v=app_49497528....

And immersion blender = awesome. Best thing ever.

You betcha I eat the eggs raw... you assimilate more of the protein that way. They have the highest quality protein available and nearly every vitamin except vitamin C.

The odds of salmonella infected eggs I think hovers around 1 in 30,000... and that's from conventional eggs with whatever standards. Buying higher quality reduces it drastically. Plus you can examine the egg.

Also, most Americans are deficient in good bacteria (probiotics) and would probably get sick, but with lots of good bacteria you wouldn't hardly notice you had salmonella... hence the street food in other countries doesn't typically affect the people that live there... just the people visiting who are deficient in good germs to fight the bad germs. Does that make sense?

I love smoothies, especially now that I have a little immersion blender that is so! easy! to! clean! but I have to ask about the egg thing. So you're just eating the eggs raw. That's cool? No worries about salmonella or whatever?

The avocado thing I could do and will have to try it soon.
